Late 18th‑Century Marquetry Writing Desk, Walnut & Exotic Veneers

Elegant late 18th‑century writing desk, circa 1790, richly veneered in walnut, chestnut, rosewood and ebony. The rectangular top with surrounding gallery and original black leather writing surface rests on a frieze with three drawers and tapers down to four slender, fluted legs. Dimensions: H 90 cm (with gallery) / 80 cm (writing surface) X W 175 cm X D 76 cm. Height to underside of drawers: 62 cm – comfortable legroom for everyday use. The desk has been fully restored and presents in very good condition; only the original leather writing surface shows light, age‑consistent signs of use, preserving the authentic character of the piece.
