Modular shelf with rounded corners designed by Jorge Zalszupin in the 1950s, made of Brazilian rosewood, also known as Jacaranda. The wood features rich natural patterns with dark and light streaks that create a visually striking grain. Each cabinet door is equipped with small round handles, while horizontal metal accents serve as connectors between the sections. The entire piece has been fully restored, highlighting the natural beauty of the wood and preserving its original character. The furniture rests on short, sturdy legs, supporting its L-shaped angular configuration. Jorge Zalszupin was a designer born in Poland who became a major figure in mid-century modern Brazilian furniture. Settling in Brazil in the 1950s, he founded L’Atelier, a furniture company that combined Brazilian woods with a modernist aesthetic. Zalszupin's work is celebrated for its refined craftsmanship and innovative use of local materials like Jacaranda. He was part of a pioneering group of designers including Oscar Niemeyer, Lina Bo Bardi, and Sergio Rodrigues, who collectively shaped Brazilian design with their unique blend of modernism and Brazilian cultural influences. Zalszupin's creations remain highly sought after for their elegance and timeless appeal. Dimensions. Width: 161 cm. Height: 184 cm.
