French School. Orpheus and Eurydice. 1914. Oil on cardboard. 24 X 33 cm. Monogrammed and dated: AC 7th 1914. A beautiful interpretation, dating from 1914, of Orpheus and Eurydice, the Greek myth transmitted mainly by the Roman writer Ovid. On the back of the cardboard, there are two labels: "Fenoglio son / Grenoble" and "Henri Roudet / Grenoble". One likely provided the cardboard, while the other provided the frame, which has now disappeared. It therefore seems very probable that "AC" is a Grenoble or Dauphiné artist.
