Sculptural Rocking Chair by Angel Pazmiño for Muebles de Estilo 1960's

This exotic, colonial rocking chair features a thick, beautifully patinated, dark brown saddle leather, inlaid with motifs from aztec mythology, on a chunky, almost brutalist wooden frame. The chair is a design by famous ecuadorian designer angel pazmino and carries the maker's mark. Angel pazmino is considered one of the greatest latin american designers of the 20th century and his work continues to influence designers and craftsmen worldwide. Pazmino began his career in his father's carpentry workshop at the age of 12. With the skills aquired here, he later went on to open his own furniture design and production studio, which quickly became famous for its innovative and elegant creations.
