Antique Louis XVI style marquetry desk

Small antique desk in Louis XVI style, probably dating from the late 19th or early 20th century, enhanced with chiselled and gilded bronze applications on the belt and legs. The rectangular top features elegant geometric marquetry in contrasting veneer, complemented by a drawer at the front and a fine curved stretcher. Its refined proportions and classic cabinetmaking make it a choice piece to enhance an office, living room, or bedroom with bourgeois accents. Condition: Functional piece of furniture with a sliding drawer, although the whole requires restoration work as mentioned, particularly on the stretcher. The marquetry top shows an aged patina marked by some superficial micro-scratches from use, slight wear to the varnish, and a small chip of veneer on the frame visible in the photo. Signs of life consistent with its age and history, revealing its full potential once restored.
