Beautiful painting by the artist alfred-jean foretay depicting monterosso, part of the cinque terre in italy. It depicts a young girl carrying water and descending a staircase that passes under a bridge covered with wisteria. Very beautiful colors. Oil on canvas moved around 1930. Signed at the bottom left and the title is written on the chassis at the back glycines monterosso italy. Alfred-jean foretay (1861-1944) is a swiss painter and sculptor who studied at the ecole des beaux-arts in paris in the sculpture section at alexandre falguière. After a few years in paris, where he exhibited at the salon des artists français, he returned to switzerland around 1910. He devoted himself to painting. He returned to france between 1918 and 1935 and criss-crossed it while passing through italy. His painting draws a light and a color typical of each region he describes under his brush. Frame dimensions: 51 X 59 X 3 cm. Good general condition, slightly disjointed upper right and lower left angle. The photos are part of the description.
