In perfect condition. Joannès drevet comes from an illustrious family of lyon artists[1]. His ancestor pierre drevet, his son and nephew were already famous engravers.[2] joannès drevet is the father of the engraver joanny drevet (1889-1969). He was born at 9 quai tilsitt in lyon, in the livet house, of wealthy parents. His mother was literate and his father was a metallurgical merchant. He completed classical studies in a private college on the outskirts of lyon, then trained as an autodidact. His work is particularly influenced by albert robida (who made similar works illustrating the city of paris) and gustave doré. At the age of 13, in 1867, joannès drevet drew his self-portrait, which already revealed his artistic abilities. During his youth, he led the life of the great painters of the nineteenth century. He stayed in paris in 1864, then made great trips to algeria and italy. He visited many french regions, such as when he volunteered in bayonne in 1875, and when he painted in saint-maurice-de-rémens with joseph darche in 1879.
