Belle époque planter in silvered bronze decorated with scrolls. This oval centerpiece rests on four legs and has two openwork handles. Note the presence of the hallmark of master goldsmith victor saglier under the planter. The latter is also equipped with a small removable silver metal basin. Known for his art nouveau style work, victor saglier (1809-1894) created several pieces for louis majorelle, daum and emile gallé. He often drew inspiration from nature for his work. The sign of master goldsmith victor saglier is an oval-shaped three-masted sailboat surrounded by the letters V and s. Saglier manufactured everyday objects such as glass vases, bowls and pitchers with metal frames, planters, tea and coffee services and candlesticks in bronze or silver-plated metal. Upon his death, the victor saglier company at 12 rue d'enghien in paris became saglier frères. It was managed by his brothers eugène and andré until his death in 1948. ******** period: late 19th century. Excellent condition.
