Rectangular jardinière with cut corners, crackled porcelain. Decor: brick red/terra background with gold and ivory reserves featuring stylised flowers and pomegranates, water green border. Acid reserve technique, typical of Wong Lee productions in Hong Kong. Mounting: 2 handles patinated in the shape of lion heads/mask heads, the same base as the other piece. Mark underneath: G & C in red, with the number 183 and characteristic crackle. It is the same importer mark as your other piece. Dating: Wong Lee 1895 - Hong Kong. The mention of 1895 commemorates the end of the Sino-Japanese War, and the company produced until the 1950s. Your piece dates from the 1920s-1940s, in the very fashionable Napoleon III revival style for bourgeois interiors.
