Louis XVI Demoulin chest of drawers

Exceptional Louis XVI precious wooden Chest of drawers by Jean Demoulin. Very elegant, its proportions are perfect. The flat-sided chest of drawers is decorated with a rich garnish of gilded and chiseled bronzes. Opening on the front by six drawers, three of which are belted, it features a rosewood and amaranth branding with boxwood fillets. The four rows of drawers are topped with transition ring-type print handles and decorated with geometric grid patterns. The rounded studs are covered with simulated grooves. The commodus rests on four round spindle feet adorned with rings and clogs wrapping in gilded and chiseled bronze. The original plateau is made of turquin blue marble from the altissimo (tuscany, italy). This marble was widely used during the reign of louis XVI. It can be found in the dining room of the petit trianon in versailles. The commodus was re-approved according to the rules of the 18th century. The colors of the veneer are bright, the handles and entrances of period locks have been restored. Keys are original. High quality parisian work. Dimensions: l. 128 cm X l. 56 cm X h. 94 cm. Louis XVI era. Circa 1784. The work is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. Jean demoulin (1715-1798) was a cabinetmaker who was awarded the master's degree in 1780. In 1781 he obtained the certificate of cabinetmaker of the prince of condé, governor of burgundy. Jean demoulin excelled in secretaries and dressers with sought-after compositions, elegant and full of finesse. He produces precious furniture for the good company, often adorned with panels of lascaing. His furniture can be found in the collections of the national furniture (castle of chanteloup and talcy) and in the museums (museum of decorative arts).
