Pair of “Sapporo” armchairs by Mario Marenco for Mobil Girgi, Italy, 1970s. Original butter-colored leather upholstery and solid walnut frame. Length: 87 cm. Depth: 85 cm. Seat height: 48 cm. Height: 86 cm. Mario Marenco (1933–2019) was an Italian architect, designer, and actor. He graduated with a degree in architecture from the University of Naples and also worked in Stockholm and Chicago. As a designer, he is best known for the Marenco sofa for Arflex (1970) and other iconic pieces of furniture. On television and radio, he stood out as a comic actor in *Alto Gradimento*, *L’altra domenica*, and *Indietro tutta!*, playing characters such as Colonel Buttiglione. He passed away in Rome in 2019, leaving his mark on both Italian design and entertainment.
