Japanese tansu seat

Pair of ancient Chinese armchairs known as "scholar's cap" (guanmaoyi). Elm wood covered in brown lacquer. Very beautiful patina. Mortise and tenon construction, without nails. Traditional furniture from the Shanxi province (northern China). Qing dynasty, 19th century. Seat height of 51 cm.
