This superb coffee service is made of 19th century English earthenware. This set consists of 5 adorable espresso cups, small in size (4 cm high X 4.5 cm in diameter), their saucers, a pretty oval sugar bowl and a coffee pot. Made of molded fluted earthenware, they are decorated with a delightful blue border frieze decoration and scattered stars and lilies. This coffee service was made in England in the WT COPELAND & Sons factory in STOKE ON TRENT in the Staffordshire region. This factory was established in 1847. In good overall condition, These cups measure 4 cm high X 4.5 cm in diameter and the saucers measure 8.5 cm in diameter. The coffee pot measures 18 cm high X 15 cm wide and the sugar bowl measures 10.5 cm wide X 8.5 cm high. They bear the intaglio mark "COPELAND". I note traces of use: cracks in the enamel and scratches, as well as a shock on the spout of the coffee maker and a firing defect in the enamel on a cup.
