Rare set of 6 armchairs published by Airborne, France, 1950s. Original publisher's label preserved under the seat (visible in the photo). Moulded plywood shells stained mahogany with soft curves, legs in black lacquered steel tubing, solid wood curved armrests. A sculptural and light line, characteristic of post-war French modernism, similar to the seats delivered for the Cité universitaire d’Antony in 1954. Airborne, a Parisian publisher founded in 1951, distributed the creations of Robin Day, Olivier Mourgue, and Raoul Guys. Complete sets of six are rare on the market. Condition: very good original condition, no restoration. Structures are sound, stable, with a uniform patina of use. Notable: a few spots of white paint on some seats (removable with a mild solvent) and a trace of use on one shell, shown in the photo. Stackable armchairs. Perfect around a large dining table, in a dining room or office. Sold as a set of 6. Collection possible in Paris or delivery by carrier.
