Antique Louis Philippe walnut commode with Carrara marble top, 19th century – France

Antique French commode in walnut dating from the 19th century, made in the Louis Philippe style. The commode features four drawers with walnut veneer fronts, displaying distinctive grain patterns and colour variations. The sides are made of walnut, while the internal structure is pine. The rounded front corners, simple mouldings, and small rounded feet are characteristic of the Louis Philippe style. A removable white Carrara marble top, 3 cm thick, rests on the commode. The marble has subtle grey veining and rounded edges. The four drawers provide storage space and are fitted with traditional dovetail joints. An old manufacturer or retailer stamp can be found inside the top drawer. The drawers retain their keyholes, but the locks are not functional. With a width of 121 cm, the commode offers ample storage and can be used in a bedroom, hallway, or living room. It is in good antique condition with signs of age and use, including surface marks and variations in the wood. The drawers cannot be locked. The furniture is treated preventively against woodworm before delivery.
