Raw terracotta from the 19th century, this utensil was used to hold live ashes in order to place a pot on top to cook or reheat a dish. The ring-shaped handle was used to move it in the fireplace by hooking it with a poker. A rough utensil but so authentic. Traces of ash inside and on the base. Some chips.
