Period: ca. 1920-1940. A very nice art deco liquor service consisting of a carafe and six small glasses. The good quality pale green glass is blown by hand and has been engraved to give a frosted effect of ice crystals. Gilded stripes adorn the glasses and the carafe. The decanter has an oblique collar with a thick gold band and a beautiful cone-shaped cap; it is this set that makes it a special piece. The glasses are green on the bottom and light above the frosted central band. This service does not have a manufacturer's brand but we can be quite certain that this is a piece of 'boom glass' produced at the 'de rupel' glassworks established in 1923 in boom, a municipality in the province of antwerp, belgium. The golden age of the factory was in the roaring twenties (the 1920s) when there was a production of refined pieces blown and painted by hand in the art deco style. Condition: very good. No damage with the exception of a small slot on the edge of a glass. The gilding on the decanter is in very good condition. On the glasses the gilding has thinned in places (which is common on these parts). Dimensions: see photo.
