Carved oak panel representing an allegorical female figure. Regionalist work, circa 1925-1930. This carved wooden panel depicts a nude woman seated in a stylised landscape. She holds a stem or sceptre while her left hand pours a flow evoking water or abundance. Beside her is a heart placed on an altar, a symbolic element that may evoke love, fidelity, or an allegory of feelings. The highly geometric treatment of the vegetation, the simplification of volumes, and the overall composition recall the Art Deco taste of the 1920s-1930s, even though the execution is that of a craftsman or a regional workshop rather than an academic sculptor. The sculpture is made from a joined oak board. The visible central crack is a result of the natural shrinkage of the wood over time. Dimensions. Height: 30 cm. Width: 27 cm. Material. Carved oak. Condition. Generally good condition. Old through crack in the centre of the panel. Minor wear and patina from use. Later hanging system.
