Wall shelf by Poul Cadovius for Royal Systems, 1950s

This 1950s wall unit was designed by Poul Cadovius and manufactured by Royal Systems. This company, founded by Cadovius, was best known for the range of wall unit designs they produced. This particular design is veneered in rosewood, but all the appliances are solid, beautifully cut rosewood. The appliances fit into the shelves, and the shelves, in turn, fit the appliances. Everything is held in place by wooden pins and is easy to install and remove, yet very sturdy. This wall unit has 4 shelves and 17 shelves, 2 of which are deeper (30cm). The middle unit has shorter shelves because these were cut by a previous owner. Since they are missing veneer on one side, these come at a more attractive price. However, it doesn't stand out, see photos. And off course, you can also put these shelves on the side in the corner, as the previous owner did. Some boards have a slight bend. Due to this patina, the wall unit is considered to be in good vintage condition.
