Splendid and authentic Shirvan carpet (Caucasus region), entirely hand-knotted, dating from the first half of the 20th century (circa 1930/1940). This characterful piece stands out with its vibrant brick-red field adorned with stylised geometric medallions influenced by strong tribal elements. The shades of indigo blue, moss green, and cream come from traditional vegetable dyes. Observe the back of the carpet: the symmetrical knot (Ghiordes) on a wool warp showcases the authentic craftsmanship of Caucasian weavers. With its beautiful abrash effects (poetic variations of shades in the wool), this carpet has an undeniable extra soul. It will bring a decidedly warm, ethnic, and vintage touch to a contemporary, modernist, or bohemian chic interior. Condition: Superb "vintage" condition for its age. Thick and healthy pile, well-preserved original edges, short secured fringes. The piece is clean, healthy, and ready to be installed. Technical characteristics: Origin: Caucasus (Shirvan Style) Manufacture: 100% Handmade. Period: Semi-antique / Early 20th century. Dimensions: ~125 cm (width) X ~190 cm (length) Material: Velvet, pure wool warp and weft. Dyes: Natural pigments (Vegetable dyes).
