Raak Amsterdam Hokusai D-2022 table lamp in wenge & opal glass

Iconic Hokusai table lamp, model D-2022, produced by Raak Amsterdam in the 1960s. The design consists of a large sphere of white opal glass that is carried by a sculptural base of solid wenge wood. The round shape of the glass is exactly followed by the recess in the wooden frame, creating a powerful geometric composition. When lit, the opal glass emits a soft and diffuse light. The warm, dark wenge wood forms a strong contrast with the almost completely luminous glass sphere. The glass sphere has some small chips on the inside edge at the opening, which are not visible during normal use when the sphere is placed in the wooden base. Such signs of use are understandable as the glass sphere must be removed to replace the light source. Otherwise, the lamp is in very neat condition. Dimensions: height 24 cm, diameter 18 cm.
