Large fat lava style vase, jug by carstens tönnieshof, numbered 1515-39, west germany, 1960s-70s. Beautiful design vase, an orange glazed glossy band with black fat lava dripping glaze on a matte gray blue background. West germany was actually a collective name for ceramics that came onto the market roughly between 1950 and 1990. Some well-known names are roth, carstens, ruscha, jopeko, jasba, fohr, but the greatest were perhaps scheurich and bay.
