Original vintage Italian glazed ceramic wall plaque, signed Mario Grimaldi, featuring a vibrant hand-painted bouquet of multicoloured anemones. The rectangular ceramic plaque has an intentionally irregular, hand-finished edge and a richly painted floral composition in shades of coral, pink, blue, violet and green. The loose, expressive brushwork gives the piece a particularly lively painterly quality. The signature Grimaldi appears on the lower front, while the reverse bears the handwritten inscription “Albisola”. The work can plausibly be dated to the 1950s, during the period in which Mario Grimaldi worked in the important ceramic environment of Albissola Marina. Grimaldi is documented among the artists who collaborated with Manifattura Ceramiche Italia, founded by Ugo Michielotto and active in Albissola Marina between 1953 and 1957. The plaque retains its original wall-hanging loop on the reverse. Condition. Very good vintage condition. No cracks, breaks or chips observed. The irregular and slightly rough treatment of the edges is consistent with the handmade character of the piece and is part of its original appearance. Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the description. Dimensions. 31.5 × 21 cm. Thickness: approx. 1.5 cm. Weight: approx. 930 g. A distinctive example of mid-century Italian art pottery, particularly appealing to collectors of Albisola ceramics, signed studio pottery and post-war Italian decorative arts.
