Very rare rajasthani bridal chest dating from the first half of the twentieth century intended for the dowry for the upper middle class in india. Its front is adorned with fine copper-inlaid patterns that only a few highly specialized craftsmen were able to execute. The inside of the lid is richly carved with five small niches and a mirror, reminiscent of the architecture of the palaces and haveli. In the upper part of the trunk, a removable tray with several compartments, four of which have a carved lid, serving as a jewelry box. The right compartment has a removable bottom concealing secret storage. Under the tray, a large place for the storage of the bride's clothes... The whole in good condition given its age with some signs of use and wear (see photos). Some small copper plates decorating the outside of the trunk are degraded.
