Authentic French washstand from the late 19th century, dating from the Napoleonic III period, made of solid wood, probably walnut, and topped with an elegant white veined marble top of the Carrara type. This piece, both functional and decorative, reflects the bourgeois art of living of the Belle Époque. Before the installation of running water in homes, it housed a basin and its jug in earthenware intended for daily washing. The furniture has a beautiful old patina and retains all its original elements: • White marble top with a backsplash and upper shelf, • Storage drawer with traditional dovetail joints, • Lower shelf, • Turned legs characteristic of the late 19th century, • Original wooden pull knob. The marble has a very slight old chip, discreet and without impact on the overall stability. The piece is stable, sound, and immediately usable. It will naturally find its place in a bathroom, bedroom, hallway, or as a decorative console. ________________________________________ Dimensions. • Total height: 92 cm. • Height of the top: 76 cm. • Width: 89 cm. • Depth: 49 cm. • Weight: 22 kg. • Drawer: 74 × 43 × 10 cm. ________________________________________ Materials. • Solid wood (probably walnut) • White veined marble. • Wooden pull knob. ________________________________________ Period. Circa 1885-1895. ________________________________________ Condition. Very good state of preservation. Beautiful original patina. Some signs of use consistent with its age and a small discreet chip on the marble, visible in the photographs.
