Still Life, Thomas Papadoperakis

Very beautiful work in grisaille (oil painting), by the greek painter thomas papadoperakis (1943 - 2002). Born in 1943 in spilia, heraklion, thomas papadoperakis came into contact very early with byzantine painting of the cretan school. He studied engraving, painting, scenography and pottery at the school of fine arts in athens with mavroides, grammatopoulos and vassileiadis, obtaining distinctions, followed by a diploma from the école nationale supérieure des beaux-arts in paris, where he studied with gustave singier. During his seven-year stay in paris, he rubbed shoulders with yannis tsarouchis and powerful personalities from the art world, such as iris clert, lila de nobili, alexandre iolas, césar and tériade. His work has won two awards (the nikos kazantzakis prize, heraklion 1998 and the audience award at art junction international, cannes 1995). The artist has also held 12 solo exhibitions in greece and france and has participated in many major international group exhibitions.
