Magnificent and large portrait of a woman from the upper bourgeoisie dating from the Second Empire. It is an original pastel on cardboard (or mounted paper), signed in cursive "Loullie" and precisely dated 1865 on the left side. The model is depicted in three-quarters in the characteristic style of the 1860s: smooth bandeau hairstyle, dark dress with fine blue stripes, and a large white lace collar embroidered and fastened with an orange cameo brooch matching her earrings. Framing: The painting is presented in its original oval frame made of wood and gilded stucco. The moulding is richly worked with twisted patterns and geometric friezes typical of the Napoleonic III era. The work is protected by its original glass. Total dimensions (with frame): Height: approximately 85 cm Width: approximately 70 cm. Condition: Generally good condition for a work of this period. The pigments of the pastel have retained all their freshness and brilliance protected by the glass.
