A glass jug from the 1970s, made at the Prądniczanka Glassworks in Krakow, represents the late modernist trend with elements of postmodernism in Polish utility glass design. The vessel was formed using the hand-blown technique from transparent blue glass with a distinct, crumpled texture. The colour palette ranges around a cool, saturated blue: from a gently lightened neck, through a soft gradient, to a deeper and more intense shade at the base. The jug is distinguished by its bulbous, full-bodied form, narrowing into a tall, gently flared neck finished with a profiled spout. The handle, made from the same glass tone, emphasises compositional continuity, harmoniously joined at the top and just above the middle of the body. The whole piece is finished to a high gloss; the surface is enriched by small air bubbles and local irregularities resulting from the artisanal production method. The jug, apart from its function as a vessel, can also serve as a decorative vase. No chips or damage, only minimal signs of age typical for vintage glass – condition is very good. The jug's form is a visual echo of Polish identity in the 1970s, when design eagerly sought a dialogue between organic shape and the free expression of material. The crumpled texture and intense colour tell the story of a manufactory where each piece bore subtle traces of handwork. This is glass through which light passes ambiguously – sometimes shining through navy depths, sometimes playfully reflecting on small irregularities. When the jug appears in daylight, its surface comes alive with a shimmering play of blues – like a fragment of memories from a time when Polish design surprised with freedom and expressiveness of form. This type of jug works well as a solo accent on an oak console, as well as a vase for a single branch or minimalist bouquet. It can be paired with geometric, ceramic vessels in neutral colours to highlight the depth of the blue glass, or incorporated into a collection of vintage glass, building a strong colour axis in a modernist living room. Interiors inspired by mid-century, later modern, or postmodern aesthetics will be a natural context for this form – it is also worth considering its presence against light plasters, where the crumpled texture and penetrating blue will stand out freely but not ostentatiously.
