Superb pair of vintage lounge chairs with a distinctly sculptural design, representative of Italian design from the late 1970s. Generous enveloping seat, wide armrests covered in navy blue faux leather, and an astonishing backrest made up of three suspended cylindrical cushions, creating a particularly elegant graphic play. The whole rests on a star-shaped base in chrome-plated aluminium, while the armrests are highlighted by large polished steel elements that accentuate their architectural character. These chairs perfectly embody the late Space Age aesthetic, where comfort meets an almost futuristic approach to furniture. Their design evokes the great Italian productions of the 1970s with a focus on generous volumes, soft lines, and sophisticated materials. They will naturally find their place in a contemporary, brutalist, or modernist interior, but will also harmonise well with pieces by Michel Ducaroy, Joe Colombo, or Pierre Paulin. Very comfortable, they offer a deep seat ideal for a living room, library, or reception area. The navy blue faux leather shows a nice patina of use consistent with their age. A small cut on the seat is visible in the photo. Very discreet. The chrome structure is in very good condition. A rare pair, with a strong character, whose presence immediately transforms an interior.
