The absolute purity, declined in bright red There are pieces that we forget as soon as seen, others that settle within us. We surprise ourselves, days later, to see again the curve of the backrest, the way the light runs along the edge, the red that never fades. They do not give in to fashions: they surpass them. They do not claim to be iconic; they rise to it, naturally, with the quiet strength of evidence. They imitate nothing, ape no one. They already carry what others will never become. Everything, in these chairs, is contained in a few mastered lines: two chrome arcs, two useful surfaces, all in one piece. Nothing too much, nothing to add. Everything is born of a requirement: to carry, to welcome, to last. The answer is clear: two chrome-plated steel tubes, which stabilize without weighing down; an injected polycarbonate shell, tinted in the mass a deep red that accepts shocks, refuses to chip. The seat descends a little and places you. The backrest gives a few degrees, and holds. Unequivocally attributed to Gino Carollo (1965-) for Ciacci Kreaty, the Delfy embodies this rare category of creations that never betray their era, while transcending it. The 1990s can be read in the brilliance of the polished chrome, in this saturated red shell, in this geometric purity that flirts with graphic design. But they are not reduced to this moment: these lines could emerge tomorrow, and carry the same contemporary evidence. Everything here is just right.
