Model 781B-2 Simris/Olympia Table Lamp by Anders Pehrson for Ateljé Lyktan, Sweden, 1964

This is Model 781B-2, better known as the Simris or Olympia lamp, designed by Anders Pehrson in 1964 and produced by Ateljé Lyktan in Åhus, Sweden. The lamp is a great example of Pehrson’s functional, technically driven design language: a clean chrome-plated structure, an adjustable arm, and a white metal shade with diffuser that provides glare-free, directional light. The leather-covered base adds a subtle material contrast to the chrome and white metal.The lamp gained international recognition when it was selected for the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich. For the occasion, 16, 300 lamps were specially ordered, all produced in white, and installed throughout the Olympic facilities. This large-scale commission cemented the model’s status as a modern design classic and explains why it is still commonly referred to as the Olympia lamp today.This model 781 Simris/Olympia is in good vintage condition with minor signs of use and wear. The chrome parts are perfect. The leather base has a beautiful patina which adds a lot of character and the metal shade has only a few small scuff marks. The lamp is missing its lamp post cap (see photos) but for the rest is complete. It comes with a perfectly fitting replacement plastic diffuser, made to Ateljé Lyktan’s specifications, original switch and grounded plug. The lamp requires two E14 light sources.
