A pair of bookends depicting two toucans with slightly inclined heads and polychrome porcelain eyes in spelter with chrome patina, on a pink veined marble base signature of the sculptor hyppolite moreau (pseudo franjou) on the back of the bird period: around 1930 dimensions: length 13 cm, height 14.2 cm, width 8 cm very good condition ref adequantik 2207354 françois hippolyte moreau (1832-1926), french sculptor. Second son of the sculptor jean-baptiste-louis-joseph moreau, he trained in his father's workshop. From 1863 to 1914, he exhibited at the salon of french artists with decorative subjects most often inspired by the 18th century. He won a medal at the universal exhibition of 1878 and another at the universal exhibition of 1900. He mainly produced medium-sized works and decorative or everyday objects: vases, statuettes, letter openers, plastic pocket trays. Bronze, regula or pewter. He also signs his production of animal sculpture with his pseudonym franjou.
