An Art Deco / modernist armchair from the 1930s, of great beauty and remarkable authenticity, attributed to the famous Czechoslovak manufacturers UP Závody or Thonet-Mundus. This armchair is characterised by a solid wood structure with rich tones, featuring elegant side posts with vertical slats and gracefully curved armrests, perfectly embodying the craftsmanship of the pre-war era. Condition and upholstery: This armchair is preserved in its original condition at 100%, having not been restored; it exhibits an authentic character and a beautiful patina due to time, with some light superficial scratches and slight signs of wear from its past use. The wooden structure is as solid as a rock and stable. What makes this piece truly rare and highly sought after by collectors is its original geometric jacquard upholstery, designed by the renowned textile artist Antonín Kybal. The period fabric is exceptionally well preserved, clean, and without tears, making it a unique element, worthy of a museum, that will fit beautifully into any mid-century or Art Deco style interior.
