Helmut Dittmann (1931–2000), abstract composition in red and blue, unsigned. This work comes from the estate of the artist and will carry the official estate stamp upon its application in the near future. Dittmann was a Berlin-Charlottenburg artist who studied at the Hochschule für bildende Künste Berlin and was appointed master student under Prof. Hans Uhlmann in 1956. He received two scholarships from the Akademie der Künste Berlin for residencies at the Villa Serpentara in Olévano Romano, Italy. His work spans painting, graphic art, collage and ceramic sculpture, and was shown in numerous exhibitions in Germany and abroad. This fully painted work shows Dittmann's characteristic rhythm of interlocking, wave-edged colour fields in a vibrant palette of red, crimson, blue, pink and white – a powerful and highly decorative abstract composition with strong visual energy.
