Saucier with "ney" pattern by boch frères keramis, 1910s. Created in the time-period when the boch factory was known as boch frères keramis la louvière; this sauce boat/gravy boat is created with a household staple of the belgian manufacturer, the “ney-design”. A superb art nouveau-design, based on the elegant interaction between natural and fantastical themes, mostly laurel-leaves in a weaving pattern or in weaves. The ney-series is famous for its exclusive use of the colour green and the saucière, listed here, is the atypical or rather rare sauceboat of the series. It was mostly likely created by adolphe becherer, who worked as an engraver at boch between 1893 and 1918 and it was probably named in honor of adolphe becherer’s wife, barbe ney. The ‘ney’-series itself was created at the end of the 19th century-beginning of the 20th, but we suspect that the saucière was made after the first world war to complete surviving sets. Ceramics and bombs are not the best of friends. It can be reused as a sauce boat, but can also be as for example the storage of smaller objects. Keys, sweets or fruit Or as a lovely small flower pot. Condition: despite its age the gravy boat is in perfect condition, it only has a small stain in the inside (see pictures for more details). Dimensions: length 22cm/8, 66 inches; wide 16 cm/6, 3 inches; height 9, 5 cm/ 3, 74 inches. Made in Belgium.
