Very old and magnificent color lithograph of butterflies - illustration of heterocera (heterocera in latin), including bimaculata, of the suborder geometrae - this plate is an original from 1887. It is not a copy but a engraving over 130 years old! - size: 28 X 21 cm - a detailed and realistic work from a specialized book; with around twenty different species illustrated - the condition of the engraving is very good: slightly worn, soiled edges. Small tears bottom left corner. His entomology collections, butterfly are held at the natural history museum in london and by the national museum of natural history in washington.
