This attractive 1970s table lamp has a silhouette that is both simple and expressive. Its turned solid wood base creates a slender, slightly flared line, resting on a circular base. The wood, with its warm tones, contrasts with the generous lampshade entirely crafted from ecru rope. Mounted on a metal frame, the lampshade features a remarkable macramé knotting technique, finished with a free fringe around its entire perimeter. It is likely handcrafted, particularly representative of a period when natural fibres, wood, and manual craftsmanship enriched interiors. When off, the lamp plays with materials and volumes. When lit, it completely changes character: the light passes through the mesh and casts a spectacular lace of moving, graphic shadows on the walls. This is undoubtedly when it is at its most beautiful. A charming yet unusual detail: the switch is directly on the socket, featuring a white paddle switch, a device that has become rare today and adds to the lamp's vintage character.
