A large, rare and impressive sofa table from the mid-19th century (c1860) mahogany of North European origin. Built from thick solid mahogany cuts offering an impressive polished flamed grain. The top, which extends through a loose-leaf mechanism, has chamfered edges and rounded corners. Drawers fitted at each end of the frieze with façade panels of Cuban mahogany marquetry, dovetail joins and enhanced on a bulbous column on heavy carved Sabre legs ending in Beaver. A chip on the underside of one of the handles-highlighted in close-up above. A very heavy piece due to the thick mahogany cut. Height: 71.5 cm. Width: 54.3 cm. Depth: 105.2 cm. Extended width: 109.7 cm.
