This console features a cut-corner top in deep black lacquer, highlighted by a brass edge, above a belt opening with two drawers with rectangular brass entries. The corner posts, faceted and dressed in brass alternating with lacquer, descend to a lower lacquered black shelf bordered in brass that completes the composition at the bottom and serves as a shelf. This rigorous dialogue between mirror black lacquer and gilded brass is the signature of Jean-Claude Mahey, a French creator from the 1970s whose lacquered furniture—consoles, sideboards, coffee tables—embodies the Parisian chic of the decade, blending Art Deco heritage with seventies glamour. Condition report: Good overall condition. Black lacquer with beautiful depth, brass with a homogeneous golden patina. Functional drawers. A graphic and refined console, ideal for an entryway or behind a sofa.
