Ari lounger, designed by arne norell in 1966. Chromed steel frame, adjustable back and neck cushions, upholstered in black aniline leather by sørensen. Chair labeled norell ab. Minor signs of use. Good overall condition. About the designer: arne norell, pioneer of 'conceptual' furniture, was praised for his innovative use of traditional materials in unexpected ways. His iconic ari armchair won the british furniture manufacturers' association's “showpiece of the year” award in 1973. Norell's pieces are today coveted collectors' items. His legacy continues through the family business, run by his daughter marie norell-möller and his-in-law thomas möller. This firm, unique in sweden, has continuously produced the entire norell catalog since the 1950s, celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2014.
