A pair of green glazed earthenware cups (slightly different tone, artisanal pieces), the base representing two facing griffins, resting on a circular base signed with a stamp on the reverse léon castel, stamp manufacture du mont-chevalier in cannes slight chips (hardly visible ) period: early 20th century dimensions: height 18 cm, diameter 16.5 cm ref adequantik 2402173 the mont-chevalier earthenware factory was created by léon castel in 1877 in the buildings of the former suquet castle. Léon castel later joined forces with paul lambert, ceramist. They make decorative pieces and utility objects from slip. In 1890, pierre rizzo left clément massier's workshop in vallauris and joined the factory as head potter. Bronze medal at the universal exhibition in paris in 1900 and silver medal in lyon. The earthenware factory closed its doors in 1931 (remains of the location of an oven in the room adjoining the sainte-anne chapel, an integral part of the la castre museum).
