A beautiful and distinctively sculptural flush ceiling light by Glashütte Limburg, West Germany, dating to the 1960s–70s. The thick square glass shade combines two textures in a single dramatic composition: a dense field of clear bubble-textured glass covers the entire surface, while six amber ribs radiate outward from the centre like the spokes of a wheel — or the natural geometry of a sea urchin or sunflower. The contrast between the crystalline bubble field and the warm amber ribs gives the shade an almost organic, natural quality, as if it had grown rather than been cast. When lit, the glass glows with a warm golden light — the amber ribs deepening to a rich honey tone while the bubble field scatters soft, diffused light across the ceiling and surrounding walls. The effect is intimate and atmospheric, far more interesting than a plain frosted shade. Mounted on a clean black metal base ring. A versatile piece that works in a hallway, bedroom, bathroom or living room. Dimensions: 20.5 × 20.5 × 11 cm.
