Art Deco bar armchair. Porto, 1920-1930. Original bar armchair from the Art Deco period in “barrel” format, decorated with vertical slats on the raised base, a general “horseshoe” shape, discreet decorative incisions on the arms and support structure. In the style of contemporary pieces such as the “Barrel Chair” by Frank Lloyd Wright (1867-1959) and the “Fledermaus” armchair by Josef Hoffmann (1870-1956). Created in the 1920s-30s for a bar in Oporto, Portugal. Waxed natural Portuguese oak; original red fabric in the English style; Dimensions: H 90.00 X W 56.50 X D 55.00 cm. Seat height: 69.5 cm. Provenance: Private collection from Oporto. Notes: Important piece of European Art Deco design, rare due to its unprecedented presence on the market and the fact that it is not made en masse - there are less than 5 chairs of this type in the world.
