Magnificent large terracotta vase, dating from the 20th century, hand painted according to the moroccan tradition from the port city of safi. * safi potters use a distinctive red clay, quarried locally. On this vase 3 main colors are present: beige in the background and inside, brown as a second color, and black, in the form of lines and dotted lines, to create geometric shapes. These motifs, a mixture of andalusian influences and islamic art, give an orientalist relief to the vase, enriching the unique decorative repertoire of safi pottery. * the shiny enamel, while preserving the raw appearance of terracotta, adds a refined touch. * more than an art, it is a living tradition that continues to thrive thanks to the passion of collectors and the know-how of local artisans. This fusion of andalusian techniques and moroccan traditions has led to the creation of a unique and recognizable style of safi pottery. *the vase is in mint condition, with some minor growths and a rough texture inside, natural characteristics of handmade pottery. A signature in arabic is present below. A charming detail is the small finger print left by the potter by mistake on the scalloped edge of the vase. * 📏 28 cm h / 17 cm dia ⚖️ 1.292 kg
