Large "Standing Man" in solid oak from the 18th century

Nicknamed "Standing Man" due to its impressive vertical dimensions that, according to popular legend, allowed one to hide standing during the French Revolution, this extraordinary 18th-century bonnetière made of solid oak commands a majestic presence. Ideal for enhancing a characterful home, a manor, a master house, or a château with beautiful volumes, this giant offers both storage space and a true immersion in history. Our Highlander in provincial Louis XV / Regency style skillfully combines curved shapes, rocaille scrolls, and light floral motifs to remain an eternally splendid piece of regional French furniture. The Shell of Saint James (top of the door) symbolises abundance. The Central Floral Cartouche displays a blossoming flower encircled by two large acanthus leaves symbolising life. Used over time as a bonnetière and then a dressing room, it retains its original 5+5 pegs (remnants of the 5 fixed shelves of the past). It is currently fitted with a wardrobe and two shelves. Furniture passed through our workshop: cleaned, restored, sound, and protected. Ready to install.
