Rare and magnificent deep plate (or cereal/soup bowl) made of fine Ironstone pottery, produced by the famous English manufacturer ADAMS in Staffordshire. This iconic model celebrates the historical collection "The Farmer's Arms, " a classic of British tableware that honors the agricultural world and peasantry. The basin of the plate is richly decorated with a polychrome central medallion featuring a sheaf of wheat under the motto IN GOD IS OUR TRUST and the title THE FARMER'S ARMS. This coat of arms is surrounded by tools and farm produce (butter churn, cheese, beehive, scales, plow) as well as poems and traditional English maxims celebrating the work of the land, such as Success to the FARMER and God speed the Plough. The rim is adorned with a superb and dense printed frieze of brambles, oak leaves, and hand-painted flowers in shades of pink, yellow, and green. Characteristics of the piece: Manufacturer: ADAMS (Member of the Wedgwood group since 1966). Origin: Staffordshire, England (Staffordshire Potteries). Marking: Official black stamp under the base featuring the name, crown, and historical founding date of the company: ADAMS - ESTD 1657 - ENGLAND. Material: Real English Ironstone, known for its robustness and great durability. Condition: Excellent original condition. The pottery is shiny, the hand-painted colors are beautifully fresh, and the piece shows no cracks, crazing, or chips. A magnificent collectible and table art piece with typically British rustic charm (Country House style), ideal for completing an antique dinnerware service or for decorating an elegant kitchen dresser.
