For sale: a pair of wall sconces model Cerf-Volant, designed by Jacques Biny and published by his own company Luminalite, around 1955. Functional fixtures. Sold as a pair. Founder of Luminalite in 1955, Jacques Biny developed nearly 400 models over 30 years, all driven by the same requirements: efficiency, simplicity, sobriety, and a refusal of ostentation. The Cerf-Volant is a masterful expression of this: a conical base made of black perforated sheet metal, three black metal rods supporting a large triangular curved reflector made of off-white lacquered sheet metal, enhanced by three brass spheres. Light filters through the perforation and reflects off the reflector, creating a soft and structured indirect lighting. A piece whose value continues to grow in the international market. Very good overall condition, with slight signs of wear inherent to age. Characteristics: Model: Cerf-Volant. Designer: Jacques Biny (1913-1976) Publisher: Luminalite, Paris. Period: around 1955.
