Breakfast cup HB Quimper – earthenware with rich Breton and floral decoration

Hand-painted faience breakfast cup, probably from the 1940s to 1960s. An unusual decoration: The Breton holds a pipe, set against a backdrop of greenery. His profile is finely drawn, his purple jacket highlighted with ochre, and his baggy trousers animated with fine brown-orange stripes. On the other side, a large purple flower is accompanied by small blue flowers with ochre centres and green foliage. The dark brown trim, the speckled turquoise edge, and the ochre handle adorned with dark lines on a cream background complete this piece. Signed HB Quimper R.Y / 69 under the base. Diameter 9 cm, height 7.5 cm, length including handle 13 cm. In beautiful vintage condition, with some crazing of the glaze and patina inside, a tiny chip on the lower trim, and signs of use under the base (see photos). Delicacy of the line, richness of colours: a Quimper that stands out.
