Cream metal pull ceiling light from the 1970s/80s by GM Luminaires

This is an impressive 1970s/80s light fixture with a metallic graduated dome shade, painted in cream white enamel. It also has a metal handle that allows it to be pulled down and, on top, a pine dome that allows the raising and lowering mechanism to be attached, as well as a white plastic cup at the top to hide the electrical connection and hook for the ceiling. A silver label is affixed to the wooden dome: gm luminaires; a french company that produced dozens of splendid post-modern designer lamps and lighting in the 20th century. At this time, head-height lamps were particularly popular above a modernist dining table; they were placed in a low position for elegant mood lighting or left in a high position to illuminate the entire room and create a more homely atmosphere. This design would look perfect in any post-modern style room. A wonderful piece of decoration, it's truly magical to see how such a light fixture can transform the look of a room. In very good condition with only minor signs of surface age. The raise and lower mechanism works fine but could benefit from some adjustment. There is a dial to tighten and release the mechanism. The light itself is currently in working order, but you will need a professional electrician or confident diyer to fix it in the desired location, and it will be up to them to make it work in that location.
