Dining room table (dinner) for 6 to 8 people by charles hollis jones, hollywood regency style during the 1970s/80s. Plexiglass structure, cast iron base covered with chrome and brass steel, glass shelf. In good condition, everything is original, traces of normal wear and tear due to time. Note, a slight blow on a corner of the glass tablet (see image). Biography: Charles hollis jones is an american artist and furniture designer recognized by the smithsonian institution for his innovative use of acrylic and lucite. Born in bloomington, indiana, in 1945, jones moved to los angeles, california at the age of 16 and founded chj designs. At the time, acrylic and plastic were not commonly used in luxury furniture and art, but jones, seeing its potential, began creating unique pieces for some of the city's most renowned showrooms, such as hudson-rissman. Jones has created more than 1, 000 models of furniture and objects, with an opulent american hollywood aesthetic. His career was fueled by bold clients like tennesse williams, sylvester stallone, the kardashians and collaborators including set designer john elgin woolf and architect john lautner. Jones resides in the burbank neighborhood of los angeles and continues to design furniture and installations. He is active in many charities and often designs for various organizations, including a sculpture for the 2008 golden heart award at the beverly hills hotel...
